FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a not-for-profit organization inspiring kids, ages 6-18 in the sport of science, technology, and teamwork. Using competitive robotics as a learning platform, kids experience the thrill and excitement of playing a sport, while developing skills needed to become part of our future workforce.
FIRST Tech Challenge is designed for students grades 7-12 and ages 12-18 years old. Teams are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to play a floor game in an alliance format. Participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have!” Guided by adult coaches and mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and sharing ideas.

FTC West includes: Alaska, Arizona, California, Greater Los Angeles, California, Greater San Diego, California, Northern, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming.
